Contamination diver covered in waste after successful waste pond maintenance

Sewer and Contamination

InDepth Diving offers specialised sediment removal and underwater excavation services designed to restore functionality, maintain capacity, and protect the structural integrity of submerged infrastructure. We operate across a range of environments, including reservoirs, waste water/sewer, pump stations, intake structures, harbours, culverts, and outfall systems—supporting clients in the municipal, industrial, and marine sectors throughout New Zealand.

Over time, sediment accumulation can reduce flow efficiency, obstruct critical components, impact water quality, and place additional stress on infrastructure. Our experienced dive teams utilise a combination of diver-directed tools and mechanical dredging methods to carry out precise, environmentally controlled removal operations.

Our Capabilities Include:

  • Manual and diver-assisted excavation in confined or sensitive areas
  • Hydraulic and airlift dredging for precision sediment removal
  • Vacuum recovery systems for silt, sludge, and fine materials
  • Bulk material removal using excavators, pumps, and mechanical dredging platforms
  • Debris and blockage clearance in intakes, culverts, valves, and screens
  • Sediment management and disposal coordination, including containment and environmental controls

All sediment removal work is planned in accordance with site-specific risk assessments, environmental regulations, and Health & Safety standards. We also offer pre- and post-dredging surveys, including sonar mapping and volume reporting, to verify outcomes and support compliance reporting.

Applications:

  • Restoring flow in pumped or gravity-fed systems
  • Maintaining storage capacity in tanks, reservoirs, and lagoons
  • Preparing sites for inspection, construction, or repair
  • Supporting contaminated sediment handling with strict control procedures
  • Enabling preventive maintenance in water and wastewater networks

With a strong focus on environmental stewardship, InDepth Diving employs best-practice methods to minimise turbidity, prevent contamination, and ensure safe, effective sediment management in both clean and contaminated water environments.
